My Review of my Student Weekly Magazine Cover & Contents

My Review of my Student Weekly Magazine Cover & Contents

Strengths:
·         The photo of the model I took was clear, and not blurred or pixilated, and there was good light on the model too
·         The texts on the cover and contents appear professional, stand-out against one-another, and generally blend with each other
·         The sizes of the texts seem appropriate as they distinguish well, you can clearly tell which is the: masthead; subtitles; headers; and information
·         In the magazine I included a lot of generic information, for example the barcode or the copyright on the contents
·         The model – Chris – has got a bag on, and holding books which gives an idea of a school environment
·         Throughout the magazine I kept a generally house style of: square shapes; bold text; and those colours: Mantis Green; Grey/Black; and White

Weaknesses:
·         Even though the photo was clear I feel like I may be able to take a better photo with better composition, just generally closer to the model
·         Beneath the banner I feel as if the room there is wasteful, even though it give the magazine space from all the text I feel as if it would have been better with more there
·         My cover isn’t very organised as everything is dotted around on the page
·         On the contents, I’ve noticed that the page numbers are slightly different sizes and if I had more time I could correct the sizes

Student Magazine Criteria Points

·
Medium photo-shot – the shot mustn't be too close or there’ll be no room for text, the photo shouldn't have too much room otherwise the photo won’t stand out.

·      Font’s – using different fonts will help make the more important text stand out, also the size of the text will distinguish different texts too.

·      House Style – using a set of colors (around 3, e.g. blue, red, and white) will create a basic structure for the magazine; it will also allow the magazine to flow constantly throughout.

·     Costume and Representation of the Student on the Front Cover – needs to be well presented, and appealing to people, the photo needs to be well light mainly the student, and leave negative space for text around the student.

·      Structure of the Magazine – the magazine needs to be well structure and have a maintaining flow, the house style must be kept the same throughout the magazine, and the fonts must also be kept the same to understand what is what of the magazine.

·  Generic Information – the magazine must contain things such as: a barcode; magazine title; subheadings; information; date and title; etc.
